Brigid

I guess it’s never too late to get all Celtic on ya. 😉 I got some new collage supplies today and was reading about some goddesses from Irish mythology for my book, and well, here you go. 🤗❤️☘️🇮🇪🧚🏻‍♀️✏️📝✍🏻

Brigid,

she knows the heat in your face
didn’t come from pulling The Lovers
out of a tarot deck,

she knows the blue streaks in the fire
you study is an illusion, tempting you
to wave your hand through the flickering daggers,

proving to everyone but yourself
of your resiliency.

She knows you can grow anything you want
without killing it.
She drives barren hands
to burrow deep into the boggy soil,
to hold bulbs like a child you’ll never know.

She knows when the wells have run dry,
and the battles are about to begin,
yet she satiates, inspires, ignites fuses
you never knew you had. #art #poetryandart #poetrylovers #brigid

Haunted Punch

I am a quixotic,
sacrosanct dance,
but my memory
is nothing but piles
of bootleg regret poetry.
The future is as elusive
as a 7th place trophy,
and your ego is a sucker punch
that feels like a hard kiss.
If I am to suffer like a fool,
let me do so gently
in a well worn haunted disguise.

Life is a Journey

If that is the case, I need to stop

handing out free boarding passes

to the flights of my mind.

There’s no more room

in my Samsonite soul,

bursting at the seams

with ripped kimonos,

cheap espresso stained

handwritten pages with

the legibility of a tired child,

the scent of cigarettes

and hot hard liquor.

Maybe I should walk the miles

instead of dream them,

with only a backpack full

of empty pages, a grey hoodie,

and a bottle of blackberry Merlot

with only a thin layer of condensation

on its body.

Wonderful Secrets and Fluttering Blue

New handmade journals with pockets available at http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheForgottenWord. I’m not sure which part I enjoy the most – folding and sewing these things together, decorating them, or stuffing them with random papery goodies once they’re done. It’s hard to let them go.
