Serotonin with a side of fries, please
The writing, art, and other mental health randomness from a 40 something teacher from New Jersey.

I am a quixotic,
sacrosanct dance,
but my memory
is nothing but piles
of bootleg regret poetry.
The future is as elusive
as a 7th place trophy,
and your ego is a sucker punch
that feels like a hard kiss.
If I am to suffer like a fool,
let me do so gently
in a well worn haunted disguise.
If that is the case, I need to stop
handing out free boarding passes
to the flights of my mind.
There’s no more room
in my Samsonite soul,
bursting at the seams
with ripped kimonos,
cheap espresso stained
handwritten pages with
the legibility of a tired child,
the scent of cigarettes
and hot hard liquor.
Maybe I should walk the miles
instead of dream them,
with only a backpack full
of empty pages, a grey hoodie,
and a bottle of blackberry Merlot
with only a thin layer of condensation
on its body.
New handmade journals with pockets available at http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheForgottenWord. I’m not sure which part I enjoy the most – folding and sewing these things together, decorating them, or stuffing them with random papery goodies once they’re done. It’s hard to let them go.
Little works better to successfully end a long day than making a journal!
…Each handmade journal in the shop is constructed with quality card stock and scrapbooking paper in various colors, styles, and textures. All pages can be written or drawn on both front and back. The covers are made with Bristol paper and reinforced with wooden pieces, chip board, and/or crafters tape for durability. The spines/bindings are sewn together by hand using multiple stitches and a thick string. These beautiful books are made with a lot of patience and love 🙂 A treat for the writer, diarist, artist, or paper lover in your life! http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheForgottenWord #junkjournals #writerscrafts
